We are excited to announce that our Strings for Uganda project has grown above and beyond what we ever imagined since leaving Uganda in August. Twenty students are now taking weekly violin lessons and are enthusiastically embracing music. We have been fortunate to form a partnership with Kampala School of Music and they are now offering to sponsor 10 of our violin students and provide lessons and instruments to them. Their teacher had already made a huge impact with the students at St Mary Kevin since we left in August.
Now that the program is growing we need your help. The other 10 students still need financial assistance so they can continue to pursue their dreams of violin. We are looking for at least 10 sponsors to support these thriving kids.
Your Sponsorship of $200 per student includes instrument rental, one weekly lesson, transportation for the teacher for 9 months.
We would also be grateful to receive half or partial sponsorships. Please email us if you would be interested in helping us. Each kid you sponsor will write you and send pictures throughout the semester as they grow as violinists.
Thank you for reading this email. Each donation is tax deductible through our partnership with Change the Truth. Please don't hesitate in emailing us with any questions.

On this cold, early morning Strings for Uganda launched this very website in the hopes that everyone will embrace our cause. We are so thrilled to have an opportunity to transform the lives of the children at SMKOM through the joy of music. I am always struck by the first words on the website for Change the Truth, "A civil war, disease and extreme poverty have devastated families in Uganda with broad, sweeping strokes. Approximately 2.2 million children have lost one or both of their parents and are struggling to survive. Often these children are left to fend for themselves and end up living on the streets." As I reflect on this tragedy, I also reflect on the joyful expression of resilience that I hear as people talk about their experiences with the children at SMKOM. As Strings for Uganda started brainstorming how we could help, we knew we wanted to add stringed instruments to their already existing music programs. We have no idea what the outcome will be, but we believe the beauty is in the process. We are so excited that you are taking this journey with us...thank you from the bottom of our hearts. -Strings for Uganda Team
